I was a stockman for a long time, we were all working really hard. I did lots of jobs at the station and was always riding, doing stock work out on the country. We've been teaching people the stories we have, and about our culture, and knowledge of this land. Sometimes we think who's going to run this place when we go away? They need to learn the lessons about country, and be strong to look after this place. I'm thinking when I making my paintings, how to make a good painting, a strong one. Sometimes I'm thinking about the colours, sometimes I'm just thinking from my memory all the country I've been at, all the stories I have.

    Ceramics Prize

    2017,  Lumina porcelain and Scarva clay, 24 x 23 x 23cm.

Shadows in the mangrove - miniscule markings of crustacean night flight - the ebb - are all in minds eye. Porcelain and Scarva clay have been chosen to represent and enhance the shadows plus give a degree of difficulty in construction.Organic in shape, quiet in nature, this vessel evokes the beauty of the night and fragility of our ecosystem.
