Pilates/Aqua Step

Aqua Pilates class

Performed on a special step block in the pool!

Aqua Step follows the same format as a regular step class, it begins with a warm up routine, then an aerobic routine using step movements, followed by a cool down sequence.

Working in water takes away the pressure on your knees and ankle joints. Because you’re in the water you are using the added resistance of the water to force your muscles to work harder than you would in an regular step class.

The exercises are held in water that comes up between your belly button and armpits so you don’t have to be a great swimmer to participate, as long as you can return to a standing position if you fall off your block.

Some students wear webbed gloves or mitts during the classes to increase the resistance as they work through the water during moves like bicep curls.
