2018 Artist in Residence applications now open

Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre (MRAC) invites artists to submit expressions of interest for our 2018 Muswellbrook Artist in Residence (AiR) programme.

The Artist in Residence programme aims to provide an opportunity for the creative development of artists in the diverse surroundings of the Upper Hunter region; contribute to the long term cultural development of the local community; and encourage arts practice and creative engagement between artist, community and place.

Applications close Friday 01 December 2017

Submit your application along with your proposal for an opportunity to take part in a 2 to 6 week residency between January and June 2018. The successful applicant will receive $7,000 in funding for the residency and creation of exhibition works, studio space, marketing and promotion, and a 3 month exhibition at Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre to showcase your work.

Eligibility

MRAC AiR is open to all artists resident in Australia. Collaborative proposals are accepted. A range of artforms are suitable for the residency including (but not limited to) painting, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, photography, installation, digital and new media art.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and artists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Quality:

  • Demonstrate a strong, creative and innovative arts-led project that delivers valuable outcomes relevant to the needs of the local community
  • Calibre and expertise of the artist and their demonstrated capacity to deliver quality creative experiences

Value:

  • Provide professional development experiences to the artist
  • Maximise artistic, cultural and community outcomes
  • Provide opportunities for co-creation
  • Be engaging and challenging for the local community
  • Provide learning and development for the local community

  • Range of community involvement
  • Strategies for sustainability and development of outcomes of the programme, including development of new relationships at the community level
