Anzac Day "Heth: Norman Hetherington – Artist at War" floor talk with Rebecca Hetherington

Norman Hetherington, Douglas Refeulling Jacquinot Bay NB (New Britain) June 45, 1945, pen and watercolour on paper.

Join us for a gallery floor talk following the Anzac Day service at Muswellbrook Cenotaph, on the Corner of Bridge and Market Streets Muswellbrook, on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Norman Hetherington is best known as the man behind Mr Squiggle but it was war service during WWII that took his drawings and cartoons off the page and put them on the stage. His daughter Rebecca Hetherington who has curated this exhibition of his artwork done during his time in the Army will give you an insight into Norman’s feelings about his time in the Army, some of the stories behind the art and how his war art influenced his later creations including Mr Squiggle.

A Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest touring exhibition.
