Face to Figure: Workshop Studies

Naomi Norris, Blind Jack

14 January - 05 March 2017

Exhibition Launch: 13 January 2017

Christine Pike’s Coal Miners exhibited at the Arts Centre in early 2015 presented the human face of mining with the depth of observation only an artist can bring. Each of the finished works began for Christine as charcoal portrait studies produced often under the most difficult of conditions.

Christine returned to the Arts Centre this past October to guide a group of local artists in a two part workshop that saw some fantastic studies in charcoal and clay made by participants with a diversity of artistic experience.

Face to Figure: Workshop Studies shares just some of the many studies produced by the eleven workshop participants and affords an insight into the artistic processes used when creating portraits.
