17 September - 30 October 2016 - Opening night 6pm Friday, 16 September 2016
In 2013 Silvana WiRepa engaged the local Muswellbrook community as the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre’s Artist in Residence, setting up an Artist’s Studio in the Arts Centre’s dedicated shopfront space in Campbell’s Corner and inviting the people of Muswellbrook to take part in a portrait project that aimed to capture the ‘face’ of Muswellbrook.
Included in her many paintings and drawings are the faces of the men from the Muswellbrook Men’s Shed. The Men’s Shed helped build easels and display boards for the Muswellbrook Life Drawing group established by Silvana during her time in Muswellbrook. Silvana’s portraits of the men are warm and endearing, and speak of a true sense of community.
