Exhibiting from 01 August to 13 September 2015
This is one of the most important exhibitions on the Arts Centre’s calendar of events. The presentation of the artworks acquired on behalf of the people of Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter Region over the past two years (or so). These are the works that demonstrate the direction of the Collections and which will help set the agenda for collecting at the Arts Centre for the next two years.
These are some of the most precious, beautiful and important objects we have and this exhibition is an opportunity for the public to see both the crème de la crème of the wider Australian art world (thanks to the generosity of Rio Tinto, Coal & Allied and the Bengalla Mining Company Pty Limited and the vision of the Muswellbrook Councillors) and thanks also to the vision of public servants (such as the former Director of Corporate and Community Services at Muswellbrook Shire Council, Russell Esdaile, who placed such importance on the collection of local artworks) the artistic endeavours of local artists which are also collected by the Council and of course, by local benefactor and collector Max Watters.
The exhibition will feature additions to both Collections and so this is an opportunity to thank the many donors, such as Max Watters, without whom there would be so much less to draw on for this most important of exhibitions.
Opening night 6pm Friday, 31 July 2015 with refreshments courtesy of Two Rivers Hunter Valley Wines, Pukara Estate, Hunter Belle Cheese and Artiste Espresso Bar.
