Local business and community groups are invited to apply for financial and practical support to join Council’s War on Waste program to divert waste from landfill and reduce the amount of waste produced.

If you are a small or medium business, community group, charity, childcare centre or school based in the Muswellbrook Shire Local Government Area, you are eligible to apply for funding to assist with a waste reduction project.

Grants of up to $6000 (Business War on Waste) or $4000 (Community War on Waste) are available on a matched funding basis. In-kind support contributions such as donated goods, services or work to support a project will be considered.

Applications will be accessed according to the amount of waste reduction that is likely to occur due to the project, measured by the weight of waste likely to be diverted from landfill and the level of awareness raising and education the project is likely to have, measured by the number of people likely to be impacted by the project.

Reducing waste not only keeps valuable materials out of landfill and benefits the environment by reducing gas emissions and need for new materials, reducing and reusing can also save money at home and the workplace.

Grant applications are now open and close at 4pm on Monday, March 8, 2021.
