A vital element of Muswellbrook Shire Council’s preparations to relocate its Administration Centre to Campbells Corner in the town centre is to provide additional car parking spaces for up to eighty staff.
The Car Parking Strategy for the CBD was endorsed at the Council Meeting last Tuesday 29 November.
The CBD Parking Strategy is designed to negate impact on the number of car parking spaces already available to retail outlets and other businesses in the civic precinct.
Approximately 150 additional marked car spaces will be installed along Lower Brook Street, Hunter Terrace and Lower William Street for the use of staff and visitors. Rear to kerb angled parking is recommended to maximize the available space, with additional parking signage and private driveways clearly marked. A number of parking spaces will be specifically reserved for the use of St Albans Anglican Church.
The parking strategy will replace three of the existing one hour parking spaces on the southern side of Brook Street, west of the Bridge Street intersection with three by 15 minute parking spaces to allow users easy access to the banks and cafes in the area. It is not proposed to apply any time limit to the additional parking spaces.
