WORKSHOP: Tiny Thread Treasures with Untethered Fibre Artist - Barbara Schey

10am-4pm, Saturday 17th June 2017. Artiste Café will be open 8am—12pm for all your lunching needs!

Free workshop @ Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre

Take a contemporary approach to time tested stitching techniques from U.K., Europe and Asia to give your work a modern twist, by creating elements which can be used in mixed media and assemblage work, as well as for jewellery.

No skill levels required except the ability to thread a needle and stitch.  Suitable from age 12 and beyond.

Barbara has researched the various button and stitch techniques and continues to be assisted by fellow researchers and museums internationally.  Barbara has been instrumental in reviving lost skills and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with her fellow stitchers.  She has taught at Forums and Embroiderers guilds and has exhibited works in Macclesfield Silk Museum and Shaftesbury Museum in UK.  She also presented a paper and exhibited at Hangzhou Silk Museum, China.

Extra equipment will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the workshop.

Participants need to bring:
