The Blue Heeler Film Festival returns to the Upper Hunter in September 2016!
The Blue Heeler Film Festival is a fun community event held during the Autumn school holidays. It includes a short film competition to give local talent an opportunity to showcase their film making genius to The World!
The festival has four events; each to cater to the different age groups: junior, teen and adult. The final evening is the Red Carpet event where the winners of the short film competition are announced. Each event starts with screenings of the short film competition entries followed by a feature film.
Short Film Competition
The Blue Heeler Film Festival Short Film competition is open to filmmakers living in the Upper Hunter region. If you live in any of the below regions you're eleigible to enter:
- Muswellbrook Shire
- Dungog Shire
- Upper Hunter Shire
- Gloucester Shire
Your film needs to be between one and seven minutes long
That's all. And yes, that includes the credits.
Your movie will have to feature the theme for the competition in some way. This theme will be formally announced during the Australia Day Ceremony, and will then be available on this website, and on our Facebook page.
Blue Heeler Short Film Competition categories
There are four competition categories, including Peoples' Choice Award.
Primary school aged students are encouraged to enter the Junior category of the short film competition.
If you are a Secondary school aged individual you are encouraged to enter the Senior category of the short film competition.
Entrants 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter the Open category of the short film competition.
Awarded to the film that receives the most audience votes.
You could also win the ULTIMATE prize - The Bluey
An overall winner of the Blue Heeler Film, from any category may win the biggest prize of them all.
How to enter the Blue Heeler Short Film Competition
From Australia Day you can download and complete the Blue Heeler Film Festival short film competition entry form. If you are under 18 years you will need to get your legal guardian to sign it.
Mail or hand deliver your entry form, along with your two DVDs, to Muswellbrook Shire Council - as indicated on the entry form.
