Muswellbrook Shire Council carries out inspections of retail food premises, which also includes temporary venues such as stalls at fairs
and agricultural shows.
Hairdressing, skin penetration
and beauty salon inspections
Council maintains a register of skin penetration premises, hairdressers and beauty salons, and conducts inspections to investigate cleanliness, sanitation and sterilization practices, adequacy of construction and personnel hygiene.
Cooling towers
Council carries out inspections of cooling towers and warm water systems for compliance to the NSW Public Health Act 1991.
Swimming pools
Council maintains a register of all existing swimming pools in the area and carries out inspections for compliance to the Swimming Pools Act 1992.
Caravan parks
Inspections on caravan parks are carried out to ensure operators comply with the requirements of the Local Government (Manufactured Home Estates, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds and Moveable Dwellings) Regulations 2005.
Places of shared accommodation
Muswellbrook Shire Council carries out inspections of Places of Shared Accommodation (i.e. boarding houses) for compliance to the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005, Public Health Act 1991 and the Public Health (General) Regulation 2002. Matters which are investigated include overcrowding, cleanliness, state of repairs and notices/signage.
